Analysis: General manager Josh Byrnes says Webb has recovered well from an Aug. 4 arthroscopic surgery on his pitching shoulder. Byrnes cited Webb's significant contributions to the club in deciding to pick up the option year. Webb made just one start last season before being put on the disabled list. He's a three-time All-Star who won the 2006 Cy Young award. Webb is 87-62 with a 3.27 ERA over seven seasons. |

Analysis: The surgery will take place Monday in Arlington Tex., by Dr. Keith Meister. Meister is the team physician for the Texas Rangers. Webb has missed 99 games after being placed on the disabled list after making one start, receiving a no-decision in the season opener. The 2006 Cy Young Award winner is 87-62 with a 3.27 ERA over 199 games in seven seasons. |
